CHAPTER ONEA Campus Planted by a City
Long before the campus had a skyline, it needed shade. Hundreds of Calgarians gave trees from their backyards, estates and nurseries. The trees arrived carrying the memories of other homes and took root beside a university that was only beginning to imagine itself.
CHAPTER TWOLayer by Layer — The Rock
No one knows how many messages are buried inside the Rock. A club name. A protest. A birthday. A memorial. A declaration of love. Each one stayed visible for a little while, before becoming the foundation for whatever came next. So does every student who left a small part of themselves here.

Within Crowchild family oral history lives the memory of someone who repeatedly travelled a long distance to see the person he loved. The distance did not become shorter. He simply continued to choose the journey.
